Steven A. Nissman, MD

Dr. Steven Nissman is a Board Certified fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and is an active researcher who has published extensively in medical journals. He has been honored multiple times with the Golden Apple Teaching Award for excellence in clinical teaching at University of Pennsylvania’s Scheie Eye Institute and is listed among “America’s Top Ophthalmologists” by the Consumers Research Council of America.
Dr. Nissman is originally from Abington, Pennsylvania. He attended medical school at Hahnemann University and received his ophthalmology training at the prestigious Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC, where he served as Chief Resident. In addition, Dr. Nissman worked at the Bethesda Naval Hospital treating the eye injuries of US soldiers fighting in Iraq.
Following his formal training, Dr. Nissman spent several years working in a large group practice in Northeast Philadelphia and taught ophthalmology residents at Cooper Hospital in New Jersey. In 2008 he joined the full-time faculty of the Scheie Eye Institute at The University of Pennsylvania as Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology and formed Nissman Eye Associates in Plymouth Meeting, PA. Dr. Nissman also works as faculty and teaches residents in the Emergency Department at Wills Eye Hospital. Since 2012 he has served as the Chief of the Division of Ophthalmology at Einstein Medical Center Montgomery.
Dr. Nissman provides comprehensive eye exams for adults and children of all ages.
