When should children have their first eye exam?
In children who have no eye complaints, a routine eye exam is often recommended around the age of four or five.
Kids are often referred to an ophthalmologist if they are thought to be having a problem with their eyes. This can include anything from pink eye to the child complaining about problems with their vision. The good news is that eye issues in kids are often straightforward and easy to treat. However, there are some conditions that are potentially very serious and need to be treated aggressively. Dr. Nissman sees pediatric patients of all ages and has experience in diagnosing and managing a wide range of pediatric eye problems.
